This year, it was the Colorado siblings turn to plan our summer vacation. Last summer it was our turn, and since I was quite pregnant, we decided to have everyone come to KC. This year, Elisa is pregnant, so they wanted us to come out to their neck of the woods. So after flying into Denver, we drove to Colorado Springs for the night and stayed with the Clark’s. The next morning, we headed out to Montrose, Colorado. A beautiful little town in the middle of nowhere USA. The travel was a bit long for Miss Nora, but for her first big trip, she did remarkably well. Here are some of the highlights of our trip….
Nora on her very first flight. She did great!
Friday after driving all morning, we went on a hike and river boat tour. It was gorgeous.
Always looking for a photo op.
Don’t let that smile fool you…she despised that life jacket.
Nora and the waterfall.
Saturday, we drove to the town of Ouray, about 30 minutes away. A charming little town, it was full of adorable shops, a lovely main street, the hot springs and was encircled by gorgeous mountains that lined the town like giant walls on all sides.

Coke in a glass bottle. Sigh…it’s the little things!
Driving through the mountains. Between feeling carsick and fear of heights, I didn’t enjoy this part all that much. I spent most of it with my head in my hands.
While everyone else got out and looked over the cliffs, Nora and I stayed in the car. She didn’t seem to mind.
Every time we try and take a nice family photo, Nora attempts to show my chest to the world. Thanks, little lady.
Words can’t describe the way this makes me feel.
Baby girl.
Hot springs with Grandma, Auntie Lis and little cousin on the way!

Kisses goodnight for all!
Nora, Sheila and Elisa and I stayed behind on Sunday while the others hiked a 14ner, Mt. S about 2 hours away. We relaxed most of the day, and enjoyed hearing the climbing stories once the hikers got home. That night Auntie Ellie gave Nora her first bite of puppy chow. She had no complaints 🙂
Sunday morning, we got up pretty early to hit the road back home. Once last picture of the siblings before we left!
Our flight home was not so fun. After being in the car for 7 hours, then stuck on a plane for another hour and a half, Nora was totally done. We were so glad to finally be home! I put her on the floor, she squealed and ran right to her toy shelf. We all breathed a sigh of relief and settled back in.
I am so grateful for my in-laws who gave us a wonderful family trip to Colorado. It was definitely a different trip for our family, maybe even a little outside of our comfort zone with Nora, but I am so glad we went! And now we look towards our next trip to British Columbia with my family in less than two weeks. Let the planning begin.
Oh, and did you hear? My BFF Kate and her hubby Will (do you know them?) gave birth to their first baby, a little Boy Prince, on Monday. I am excited for Nora and the little Heir to the Throne to meet. I think they will be the perfect match 🙂 I am thrilled to say the least!!
