So I think it isn’t a surprise to you that one of the most important things for me to focus on with a history of postpartum depression and now anxiety is my mental health. After being on antidepressants for nine months and having used Xanax as needed for anxiety and now Buspar, it is still a scary for me to think about slipping back into a state of depression again. Even though I don’t clinically have postpartum depression anymore, I am more highly susceptible to getting it again, so searching for ways to be proactive about my mental health has been huge for me. But how do I do that? What are some of the things that I need to be aware of and looking for?
I always go to God’s Word for the state of my heart and mind first, but this last month I have been trying something new. And as you know, I have always been up front about any and all things mental health on this blog, so I wanted to share something that I decided to try after lots of research and prayer.
And it’s FitFormula Wellness’ Cal-Ez.
Their program centers around their Calcium + D product. I have found, from research and in general how my body functions, that having adequate levels of vitamin D specifically creates a positive shift in my mental state. That made it a little bit easier for me to decide to start on the FitFormula Wellness supplement. It also helps that as I am getting older that I need more calcium, and I know that I don’t always get enough of it in my diet. But what made it even better? I didn’t have to take a pill! (I LOATHE pills!)
So a little more about the supplement itself. Calcium + D is a tasteless powder supplement that provides both 1000mg of calcium and 1000 IU of Vitamin D3 – something both growing kids AND women approaching midlife don’t get enough of. I love to cook and I can mix this powder into just about anything, it even goes into pureed foods well. As an added bonus, I can put it into my coffee and water and I don’t notice a difference at all. It’s really been an easy supplement to take so far and I’ve been pleased that it isn’t gritty tasting.
Besides women who need extra Vitamin D for their mental health, there are a few other groups that you or your family might fit into who would greatly benefit from this supplement as well:
- Moms with kids who want to make sure kids get the nutrients they need. It’s easy to miss the importance of getting the RDA of calcium and kids’ greatest calcium needs are between the ages of 9-18
- Moms with kids who need a significant dose of Vitamin D and don’t want to take pills (or me, ha! I hate pills!)
- Lactose intolerant families/individuals
- Vegans
- Fitness, Wellness, Nutrition Experts (strong bones, strong muscles, strong bodies)
- Women at midlife, when calcium needs are important
I’m not sure about you, but I really am trying to take care of my body at this point in my life, especially since my journey with postpartum depression and anxiety. This is one of a couple of new things I am adding into my life and I am excited to continue to try this supplement and let you know how it goes. Do you want to join in taking Cal-EZ with me? (No, I’m not selling it, BUT I do have the information to where you can go to get some for yourself!)
If you want to try this product out too, here is the website that you can order the Cal-EZ from at FitFormula Wellness.
