Women with type-a personalities… You can see us coming a mile away with our color coordinated calander pocket books, stuffed to the brim diaper bags and always checking our watches to make DOUBLE SURE we are on time. Seriously, we can’t help it. It’s in our blood to be presice about… Well, everything.
And if we are really being honest, we KNOW that some of our habits are enough to drive those we love (and coincidentally inflict our routines upon) to the edge of insanity. When really, all we are trying to do is help the best we know how. But sometimes it can just be too much.
However there are many ways that you can BLESS and not STRESS your family out and use your gifts in your home. Here are six ways you can be a blessing while being yourself.
1. Keeping up with a schedule for housework
When I first started staying home with our oldest, it KILLED me to not have an hour by hour routine that I was used to. And then one day I discovered that making my own daily routine was the key to keeping my sanity. By keeping up with your housework, having a list of your kids chores and keeping your home organized and tidy, you are blessing your family and fulfilling a huge need in our own heart and mind to have a schedule. It may take a few weeks to figure out what works best for you, but trust me, it’s worth figuring it out!
2. Organizing and Updating Paperwork
By being your family’s secretary, you will be able to keep all of your important paperwork, bills and records organized and ready to be used. That way the next time your husband has to look back for last years taxes, find birth certificates or receipts, he can find them quickly and with little trouble. What a stress reliever!
3. Being Prepared for an Emergency or Sickness
Unfortunately, sometimes things come up that we aren’t ready for. Sometimes it’s a bout of the flu, sometimes it’s a busy week, or maybe even a death in the family. By being organized and staying up to date on bills, paperwork and house chores, you will be ready for those emergency moments. For my own three ways on how to be ready to meet your family’s needs when someone is sick, you can read my post here.
4. Being Ready to Host and Entertain in Your Home
By being organized with food preparation, house work and overall organization, you can have your home ready with little notice for company. This is great for when you have older kids bringing their friends over for an evening or if you enjoy hosting in your home. What a gift to have a fun home to relax in! And it’s all thanks to you and that wonderful personality trait of yours 😉
5. Cooking Meals and Making it a Breeze
By meal planning, food prep and bulk buying, you can make your cooking and meal prep easy and enjoyable. By making your awesome color coordinated lists and planning things out in advance, not only do you save yourself a lot of stress but save your family money in he process. Win-win!!
6. Passing on the Knowledge
One of the things that I am the most grateful to my parents for is how they modeled and explained to me how to be organized and use it to my advantage. And now that I have those tools in my head and heart, I hope that I am able to pass them onto my own children and maybe even have them rub off on my husband 🙂
I hope that this has encouraged any fellow type-a personality friends out there. You were created fearfully and wonderfully with amazing gifts to love, organize, structure and be orderly. And those gifts are NOT a mistake. Now go out there and bless your family!
In the most organized and clean way you know how 🙂
