The day after our grand opening of Zuzu’s was my birthday. I have to admit, in all the commotion of getting the store set up, turning a year older was the last thing on my mind. This birthday was definitely one unlike any other . – it snowed. I mean huge HONKING snowflakes accompanied by ice and rain. Normally I am rocking a sundress and flip flops on my birthday, but this year I snuggled up in my sweats. I guess there is a first time for everything.
Nora and I woke up early, got some things done around the house and went off to Target/Starbucks to do some shopping. No, not for me, but for one of my best friends, Jodi, who just happened to give birth to her third baby, Graham, on my birthday. I’m so overjoyed that I get to share a birthday with that precious little Leeper! After some shopping, we went and hung out at Zuzu’s for a while, where I was given the gift of gifts – a gift certificate to Lululemon from Katie and Melanie! I have been looking on line for months, trying to decided when/how/if I should buy a pair of their cropped yoga pants. I have heard raving reviews for months now, and since I live in yoga pants, I have really been wanting a pair. So I convinced Eric to do a little shopping with me Thursday afternoon and I went and purchased my first pair. These pants will never again leave my body. I totally understand the hot gossip about these pants now. And now, I will start saving up for another pair 🙂
Eric and I finished the night off at Houllihans (we were going to go downtown to Friend’s for sushi, but the weather was too bad) and came back to my folks who were watching Nora for ice cream and fudge. Jared even came out for the occasion. My mom went above and beyond (again) and got me some new ADORABLE metal shelves, lattice boxes and some new Sperry’s which I am obsessed with. After time with my family, we came home and played Yoshi’s Island. No better way to end our evening 🙂

I had to take a pic in my new pants and Gryffindor shirt from Eric 🙂
Year 26 was a beautiful one for me. Looking back, this has probably been the best year of my life.
Eric and I got to spend LOADS of time working together on the truck

Went to beautiful Amelia Island this summer

Was blessed with the gift of carrying our first child

Became Mommy to my precious Eleanor Sue

Got to spend everyday with the two people that I love more than anything in this world

I have gotten to be a stay at home mom and have the pleasure of watching and helping this sweet child grow and change

This next year will be different, indeed. Year 27 will include leaving our home here in Olathe and moving to this gorgeous place. Although some of our future is uncertain, I know that God holds our little family in His hands and will direct our path to EXACTLY where and when it needs to be. So here is to another beautiful year: full of new mercies every morning from above, sharing life with my best friend and many giggles from my little strawberry blonde girl. I honestly never knew I could be so happy. I’ve got it good 🙂
