Are we really halfway through the newborn stage? It seems like you have been here with us for longer than that, Miss Andersyn! Maybe it’s because everything seems longer when your tired. Yes, “tired,” is the word of week 3. Let’s take a look at our busy past week.
Things You Like:
*Not a whole lot-no literally, I really don’t think you liked much this week, hence your excessive crying and fussy wakefulness. It was a long week, but we finally had a really awesome night last night! Praise Jesus!
*Nursing-girl friend, you eat so much!! I’m grateful that you are such a good eater! Nursing is going so well!
*(drum roll, please!) Your Pacifier-It’s official, you love your hospital pacifier. It has been a lifesaver!
*Car rides-I’m so grateful you like these!
Things You Don’t Like:
*Diaper changes/baths-this is getting WAY better, but neither are your favorite things to do.
*Sleeping-you just didn’t do a lot of it this week. You were up crying a lot, wanting to cluster feed and be held. Hoping this gets better this week for everyone’s sake!
*Sitting still-you LOVE to be on the move and bounced. We have done a lot of that this week and I’m convinced I’m going to have awesomely defined arms by the time your one.
*Burping-you tend to cry after a big burp or spit up. Mommy is going to call the doctor today and make sure it’s not a sign of reflux.
*Being constipated-you had a day/night this week when you were stopped up and you did NOT like that at all. But once you finally went (and it was a lot), you were so much happier!
Milestones:
*You seem to have found your hands this week. They still flail around quite a bit, but you have started sucking on your thumb to sooth yourself when your pacifier isn’t available.
*More wakeful hours-although you still are asleep more than awake, your awake hours are getting more interesting with tummy time, being entertained by your big sister, going for walks outside. And of course bouncing 🙂
*You seem to be focusing your eyes better this week. You love watching our faces and staring at lights.
*I’m starting to wonder if you may be a little colicky? Maybe it was just a growth spurt this past week, but I think in the coming days we will find out for sure. Your Daddy and I are continuing to figure out your cries and are starting to understand your wants and needs a little bit more.
*Your neck is starting to get strong! You like to look all around you when your propped up on our shoulders or doing tummy time on your play mat with your big sister. You even rolled from your tummy to your back once. You looked just as surprised as I did!

This week was a tiresome one, sweet girl. But I know that all of the long, sleepy nights are SO WORTH IT, because you are such a wonderful gift and perfect fit into our little family. I’m excited to keep getting to know you this week. You brings so much happiness, Andi Joy.
