Two Weeks

in Uncategorized on October 7, 2014

How can it already be two weeks since you came into our lives, little Andi Joy? Time is already going by so fast and you are changing so much already. What a wonderful second week of life you have had!

Things You Like:

*Nursing-You still love to nurse all the time. Whenever you seem upset and it’s been about 2-3 hours, all you need is a little time at the breast and your good to go. Sometimes you use me as a pacifier, but that’s ok, too.
*Being Warm-You love lots of layers of clothes and blankets. Nothing too tight around you, but you certainly love to be loosely snuggled.
*Being Bounced-We had kind of a rough time at night this week. You were extremely fussy and wanted to be constantly bounced and burped. While this made for some very sleepless nights, we did figure out that you love the up and down bouncing motion. Auntie Lis was here this weekend and she suggested that we sit on the birthing ball together and bounce. And it WORKS!
*Looking at Lights-Another trick that we have learned when your fussy is to hold you face up and let you look at lights. Who knew that lights were so interesting, right?

Things You Don’t Like:

*Diaper Changes-Although your getting better everyday, you sure hate having your bum exposed/wiped, especially in the middle of the night. I’m looking forward to the day when you don’t scream with every change.
*Flem/Suctioning-Sadly, you have your first cold, sweet girl. Your big sister is learning about sharing everything with you, including her germs. With lots of flem, we have had to do some suctioning and you just hate it. And I totally don’t blame you at all.
*Bath Time-Your still not a fan, but you at least stop crying when we wash and massage your hair. I have to admit, I always like that part of my hair appointments, too πŸ™‚
*Your Pacifier-I’ve come to the realization that your simply indifferent to it at this point. You usually just use my boob as your pacifier and don’t really take your paci, but maybe a few times a week in the evenings. We will see if this changes in the coming weeks.

Milestones and Fun Things We’ve Done This Week:

*Trip to the Doctor/Lactation Consultant-Dr. Anderson was so impressed with what a sweet baby you are! And guess what? Your back up to your birth weight, just 9 days after being born! Go us!
*Your stump fell off! Funny story how that happened…we were changing your diaper and your big sister was hovering over you watching my every move. All of the sudden she said, “Andi’s owie popped off!” Sure enough, I looked down and low and behold, there was your belly button! I pulled your shirt back and there was your stump stuck to the inside of your shirt. Nora was so excited that I handed it to her and she got to do the honors of throwing it in the trash. We all cheered and marveled at your new body part πŸ™‚
*We had our annual Eberspacher Bonfire and also got together with your Nana’s Yeackley side of the family this past weekend. Everyone was so excited to finally meet you!
*We brought you to church for the first time this weekend. You did such a great job, only crying once when you were hungry. I walked out, nursed you and we came right back in. I was pretty proud of you!
*Not that this is a good milestone, but you have your first cold πŸ™ Your big sister has had a runny nose the past week or so, and she is learning the fine art of sharing and gave it to you. Luckily, you haven’t had a fever, just lots of congestion, yellow/green boogies and a runny nose. We have been using saline drops in your nose, suctioning you (which you hate, I totally would, too) and sleeping with a cool mist vaporizer in our room. Hopefully we will kick this thing soon!
*Just last night, we finally had some decent sleep in our house! You were still up every 2-3 hours to nurse, but you were barely awake, got your diaper changed then went right back to sleep. To make things even better, you have already had a couple of awake hours today. Maybe your getting your days and nights right? I sure hope so! But I have to admit, if I’m going to get up in the middle of the night, at least it’s for someone as cute as you!

Fun Things We Get To Do This Week:

*Hammie and Pop Pop are driving through town this week on their way to Canada to meet us for dinner. It will be so fun to see them for a couple of hours!
*We are taking our first “girls day out” just the three of us to the mall tomorrow morning. Although we don’t have a huge day planned, I’m excited for our first of many shopping trips together.

Here are a couple of photo highlights from this past week. Your changing so much, it makes me sad, but I love watching you grow and change. Love you, my sweet Andi Joy!

Such cute pics of both the girls. Love those different expressions that can be captured on a babies face.
