My parents 30th anniversary was earlier in August and they wanted to do something super special with all of our family. Seeing as Jared and I hadn’t been back home to Canada in 10 years, they thought it was due time for a visit. So off on a week long trip we went last Sunday!
Earlier in July we had a test run for flying with Nora and she did great! The flight there was no exception and she took the 3 1/2 hour flight like a champ! We flew into Seattle and rented a van for the 3 hour drive through the border to Chilliwack, British Columbia where all of my extended family lives. But before leaving Seattle we took some of the afternoon to explore Pike’s Place Market and take in all the sights, sounds and food of the coast. This was definitely a highlight of the trip for me.
Day 1 Canada
Had to get a picture in front of the infamous sign
STUNNING flowers! I wanted one of each
If heaven looked like food…
We stop every time at this hole in the wall market grill for the BEST clam chowder! It was just as amazing as the last time I ate it
Grandpa and Grandma excited to spend a whole week with Norakins! Getting ready to eat fish and chips
View from the balcony we ate on
Beautiful flowers along the market
Happy to be vacationing with the baby brother
Nora meeting her second cousins – Summer, Nixon and Brando
After crossing the border and exchanging hugs and kisses with all the family, we went outside and ate our first of many amazing meals made by my Auntie Kathy. She had everything set up so beautifully outside! It was the perfect outdoor dinner to kick off the week. Uncle Scot smoked pork butts for us all day long and we scarfed down our BBQ sandwiches and Canadian Good Host iced tea before the rain came rolling in. And by rain I mean some of the loudest thunder and lightening ever. As sad as we were to bring the party inside, it was gorgeous watching the lightning and clouds billowing over the mountains. Day 1 was done, so to bed we went to get some shut eye for the next day.
