Decorating Small

in Uncategorized on December 17, 2014

Most of you who know me know that I LOVE Christmas more than just about anything. We thought that we would be in our new house by Christmas, but since we aren’t going to be, our holiday decor is quite humble this year.
Honestly, it’s been good for me to go small. As much as decorating is my favorite thing to do, this season of life has been so busy that I truly don’t think I would have had the time to really enjoy it. And it makes me all the more excited to decorate our new house next year. I’m already counting down the days πŸ˜‰
So if you have a small space like we do, how DO you decorate for Christmas with out making it feel cluttered? For starters, I only chose one small space to place my pretties, including my tree. Add a few lights here, a couple of hand made Nora decorations there, grab a couple of great antique store finds and BAM! It’s a holly, jolly little space!
I decided to use our kitchen for the spot to display our holiday cheer. It just gives me warm fuzzies πŸ™‚
I got this tree from Zuzu’s a couple years ago and keep it out year round and simply change the seasonal decor out on it. Then I hit up Hobby Lobby during thier 40% off Christmas sale and bought some  bulbs, red garland and a tree skirt. It was so fun having Nora help put the tree up this year. It was just her size πŸ™‚

I hung some simple lights around the window behind our sink. Then I picked up some pre-fab felt gingerbread man and snowman ornaments and let Nora put them together then we strung them on the lights. They are pretty cheesy, but she loves them! And you can see Jingle, our Kindness Elf hanging from the top of the window, just waiting to give Nora her next kindness mission πŸ™‚
The window sill is my favorite part. Nothing really matches, but each piece is unique and it all makes me so happy!

It’s not much, but our small Charlie Brown Christmas this year will always be one that I cherish and remember. I so enjoy seeing how people decorate their homes for the holidays, so I’m hoping to see some more blogs with Christmas home tours soon! And I’ll leave you with my new sign from Zuzu’s this year. It’s from my all time favorite movie ever that makes me do the ugly cry every time I watch it. Can you guess what it is?

**Side Note**
Have any of you tried the Sierra Mist Cranberry Splash? It’s only on the shelves this time of the year and it’s AH-MAZING! My FIL got us all hooked on it and it’s officially my new favorite. I may need to stock up on a few 24 packs before the season is done πŸ™‚

I needed this! Our house isn't ready yet either. We hope to be in this weekend but I'm not holding my breath. I know I'll want to decorate (for the kids) and you just totally made me smile. It will be small but it will BE! Thanks for giving me just what I needed to see and read!
