Looking Towards Spring

in Uncategorized on February 25, 2013

I’m sitting here typing as my little chatterbox bounces beside me in her jumping gym. We always have the most intriguing conversations when she is in her jumper, but she is a little Chatty Cathy today, in particular. Must have been all of the excitement from going out for pizza with Grandpa today for lunch!
Although we are in the midst of severe winter weather, I did get all my spring and Easter decorations out this past week. After all, Easter is in March this year, and I want to have my larger than life pastel eggs and sparkely bunnies out as long as possible. In Eric’s mind he is thinking, “Didn’t we just take down all your Christmas decorations and put up your winter ones?” But he never complains about helping me get everything out and re-arrange our house. Poor guy. So, once again, down to the storage closet we went. I have to say, he really is a trooper when it comes to my seasonal decorations. He calls my decorations, “your things.” I choose to consider it a term of endearment. haha.
It dawned on me that decorating for spring is going to be a little bit different this year. This time next year, our house is more than likely going to be on the market. Sad, but so exciting at the same time. But we will talk about that some other blog entry…. This will also be the last season that I am able to have a lot of my favorite decorations out at “Nora level.” In other words, this will be the last year I have any breakables on coffee tables, low shelves, etc for a very, very long time. I was quite encouraged, however, because this morning when I got onto Mary Carol’s blog, she had this posted. She gives me great hope. Decorating with little kids

This precious little birdie in his cage and glass floral bottles won’t last 30 seconds in about 3 or 4 months. Woe is me…
Having said that, I didn’t really get any new decor this year. I bought a few new spring stems from hobby lobby for the mantel and recycled the rest from years past. A little paint and distressing there, some new photos in old frames here and of COURSE windows…I think it turned out pretty well considering the lack of new “things.”

Of course little Norakins is on the mantel 🙂
Although I momentarily mourned not being able to have all my “decorating ducks in a row” anymore, I do get VERY excited to soon replace them with handmade trinkets covered in glue and glitter and hang artwork on our walls that come from chubby little hands and creative minds. With that being said, I purchased these ADORABLE little vases at the antique store for Nora to use in the coming years. They are about the size of my palm and each are different and unique. I can’t wait for her to run up to me with gifts of little dandelions or a fist full of clovers. Then she can proudly bring them inside and put them on display for all to see. Aren’t they adorable?
My house feels so nice and spring like with all my greens, birdies and Easter goodies out. I love making our home feel like our safe haven. It makes me all
the more thankful that Eric works so hard so that I can stay home and
spend more time doing what I love. I love that guy.
But looking outside, the next round of 8-15 inches of snow is well on it’s way. Eric thankfully just got home from work and the three of us are getting ready to hunker down for round 2 of snowmageddon. Going to get some Chicken pot pie in the oven and curl up with my little family.
In other news… Nora has decided that she is going to become a pirate. Silly girl.
Happy Monday, everyone!
