My Newborn Baby Essentials

in Uncategorized on November 12, 2014

NEWS FLASH!! Both my girls are napping at once! Say WHAT?!? I’m fist pumping and drinking a Coke to celebrate as we speak 🙂

It seems like I have lots of friends who are getting ready to have littles in the near future, so I thought it would be fun to share what I have found to be my essentials now that we are 7 weeks in with Miss Andersyn. Sometimes it’s hard to weed through what registries tell you that you must have, when in all actuality, you don’t really need much the first week or so. Just you, your baby, clothtes, diapers/wipes and your boob (if that’s your thing). But there are a few other things that I have found to be super helpful in the newborn stage, so here we go!

1. Aden and Anais Swaddling Blankets

Gals, I got these as a gift for Nora when she was first born and they are a total game changer. They are light, yet have a firm hold for swaddling, super soft and cuddly for when your little has a fever and is sickly and have adorable prints. They seem a bit on the expensive side, but they are totally worth it. Go get them – you will not be sorry!

2. Snugabunny Swing

Now I realize that not all babies are swing babies, but Miss Andi is. It’s been so nice having this swing, especially during the day when she is fussy. The only draw back is that the base is really large, but it’s not too bothersome.
3. Dr. Brown’s Bottles

I only have one of these on hand, but I must say that I love them! They were recommended to us by our lactation consultant for the natural nipple shape and they were a hit! Andi took to them with no problems. They have a lot of parts to wash, but they do clean easily, so that’s nice!
4. Ameda Purely Yours Double Electric Pump

If you know me, you know I’m crazy in love with my pump! It got me through 9 months of EPinf with Nora and is still going strong! Lucky for me, I don’t have to use it to often this time around, but I’m glad that I always have it close by.
5. Soothie Pacis

This was also the same brand we were given in the hospital and the same brand that is on our Wubanub. We love these pacis and are so thankful that our girl loves them!
6. Jams – the zip up ones

There is nothing cuter or cuddlier than a newborn in jams. We like the zip up ones the best because of their ease, but the button ups are good, too. These have been a lifesaver while we are out in the field with the guys… They keep our little gal toasty warm and she practically lives in them!
7. Baby Trend Bouncer

I saved my favorite for last. This thing goes everywhere with us…. Into my in-laws, on the floor while I play with Nora, outside, from room to room.,, and it has a vibrator attachment on it to give little Miss some movement. Biggest lifesaver with this baby!

Obviously there are lots of other things that I use for this baby, but these have been the essentials that I have used the most. Fortunately for me, most of the things that I use the most were what I already had from Nora, so I didn’t have to buy much, but I certainly would buy these things again if it meant making Andi Joy happier and gave me more sleep :)
