Sweet, sweet Nora is 20 months old! We have officially entered our “20’s.” And what a month this has been. Let’s recap a bit. Warning – lots of non-smiling pictures ahead. We are working on that!
Clothes: Nora is wearing all 24 month and 2T clothes now. It has been SO FUN to get out her new shorts, t-shirts, tank tops and, most recently, her bathing suits! It sounds silly, but she looks so different when you can see her lily-white arms and legs. It’s another sad reminder that she is continuing to lose all those rolls and baby fat, but she still looks adorable, nonetheless.
Eating and Drinking: Well, she does both of these things a lot. That is the most simple way to put it. She eats a really large breakfast and lunch, but her dinner is a little lighter. She enjoys snacks of Cheerios, apples and oranges through the day with the occasional fruit snack or crackers. Some of her favorite foods are: fruit (in general), chicken fingers, cuties, yellow and orange peppers, bananas, pears and any type of soup. One of the cute things she has started doing with her cereal in the mornings is she tips up her bowl to drink the rest of her milk just like her Daddy does. It’s absolutely adorable (and completely messy). She loves milk, juice and drinking water out of her water bottle.
Play and Toys: Nora continues to be an outdoor girl. She loves to jump on the trampoline, especially with her Daddy, swing, jump off of things and the latest, picking up handfuls of pebbles and carrying them down to the weigh station with her Grandma (seriously, she could do this for hours). I bought Nora a little Barbie car at a garage sale a couple of weeks ago, and she has LOVED putting all of her dolls and puppies in it for a ride. Most recently, she has loved building towers out of cups and blocks and ramming the car into them, squealing as they fall everywhere. I love watching her play like that. She continues to enjoy books, dance, change her baby’s diapers and riding around on her train. Speaking of trains, she is obsessed with them. Any time she sees or hears one, she pumps her little arm and yells, “Toot!” It’s my favorite.
Words: She continues to try so hard to talk and she learned lots of new words this month! Toe, nose, dirt, and home just to name a few. She really got the enunciation of the “o” sound this month and it has opened up so many doors for her to sound out words and really help us be able to understand what she is saying. I love hearing her talk to herself and shriek, yell and giggle. What a little person she is becoming!
Sleep: Nora sleeps from about 9pm-8AM most days. She takes a 2 hour nap every afternoon at 1pm, however the past few days her naps have been 3 hours or more, which I’m guessing is her catching up from a really crazy weekend.
Teeth: No more new teeth this month, so still stuck on 12 teeth. Sadly, brushing her teeth has become taboo for her this month. It’s been harder to get this done, and many tears have been shed as we try and complete our daily hygiene. I’m praying this gets better fast!
We have continued to struggle with discipline and attitude this month. We have figured out that if we ask her to do something and she doesn’t do it, we make sure she is looking at us and sternly ask her to obey what we are saying and repeat what we need her to do, and most of the time she does it. This is working so far and has resulted in less bottom swatting (praise the Lord, I was just not liking that). Nora has so much energy and is so spirited! As much as this can be tiring, I continue to love this aspect about her. Nora loves to run around and scream and shriek, giggle and prance, and this normally results in her doing some sort of headstand or summer sault, to which she loves applause and praise. She loves to play one on one with you and craves undivided attention. She has become a more cuddly child this month and boy, me and her Daddy are LOVING it!! We are thinking about trying to start potty training this month or the next. There is a lot going on in our lives schedule wise, but I know that she is continuing to show signs that she is growing more ready. We continue to fall more and more in love with our sweet girl every single day. There is no one else that can bring our family joy like she can. What a blessing she is!
