We started the morning off the right way by going to Tim Horton’s for donuts and ice caps (I will note, we went through the drive through at least twice a day while we were there. If you’ve never had the pleasure of going to Timmy’s, you have no idea what your missing out on!). Nora enjoyed her first real dinning experience in the restaurant and scarfed down her donuts like a pro. It would be a lie to say that I wasn’t proud 🙂
I really wanted to get Nora a Canada hoodie while we were in town, so we hit up the mall and did a little shopping. These kids just couldn’t get enough of Nora. I loved watching them love on her 🙂
My mom treated all of us to A&W Root Beer to quench our thirst from vigorous shopping therapy
In the afternoon, just our family drove out to Granny and Grumpa’s Antiques. Barn upon barn of anything and everything you could ever want and more. The interesting thing is that there are no prices on anything and you have to ask/bargain with the owners. The odd thing is, they normally say no, so it’s hard to not pick something up and have your heart set on it. I tired for a few things but got 3 no’s 🙁 I was sad, but it was such a fabulous experience walking through and seeing SO MANY antiques!!!
Snow White with only 6 of her 7 dwarves
One of the 7 barns filled to the brim with anything and everything. I was shaking, I was so excited!
Later that night, we packed up and drove down to the Vedder for our annual Janzen family tradition – a weenie roast on the river!!! It was any kids dream meal, complete with hot dogs, watermelon, iced tea and endless smores. This was by far my favorite childhood memory growing up, and now that we all have kids of our own, it made it that much better.
Getting everything set up
Uncle Scot and Boyd tended to the fire and roasted the hot dogs
Nora was enamored with the rocks and sand. We just let her sit there for who knows how long and dig her chubby little hands into the dirt. I don’t even want to think about how much of it she actually ingested :/
Finally enjoying this event with my sweet husband
The boys had a rock throwing competition and were all sore the next morning
And what could little boys love more than throwing rocks into the water? They joined in on the fun
I love Elias, but after snapping this shot, I have fallen in love with him even more 🙂
Happy 30th wedding anniversary to my awesome parents!
Auntie Kathy had the brilliant idea to bring a high chair out to the river. What a lifesaver!
Enjoying the sunset
So happy to spend this special time with my little family 🙂
