This one’s for the #girldad
For the guy who didn’t quite know how he felt the first time he heard, “It’s a girl!” But knew the joy he was in for when he heard it the second time around.
For the dad who has folded little pink pajamas and held tiny babies in frilly dresses and larger than life head bands.
For the dad who has spent hours having tea parties on the floor and learned how to hold his pinky up just right when he takes a sip.
For the dad who has taken up the words “cute” and “adorable” into his vocabulary and uses them daily.
For the dad who twirls his daughter around the room and lets her dance on his feet, cherishing the moments of her smallness, knowing someday they will be dancing together at her wedding.
For the dad who velcros dress up clothes and slips gloves on tiny fingers and puts crowns on their heads. Who announces fashion shows and rock star concerts all in one night.
For the dad who beams with pride when his little girl asks if he can teach her to play catch and lives for the moment that she wants to watch the ball game with him.
For the dad who has a lap full of little girls as he reads bedtime stories in the silly voices that only he can make. He reads “just one more” knowing they won’t stay this little forever.
For the dad who treats his wife with love and respect, setting an example of the kind of man that his girls will marry one day, knowing she deserves both.
For the dad who beams when he tells his daughter that she’s beautiful and speaks with confidence when he tells her she is strong and brave, knowing his girls are made to be all of them.
For the dad who tears up the first time he sees his girl take the stage in a tutu for a recital, remembering that first day she asked if she could dance on his feet.
For the dad who knows all the princess songs and can belt them out better than anyone else.
For the dad who always shares his ice cream, right down to the last bite.
For the dad who presses into and pursues his daughter’s heart. He knows her and delights in her tiny soul day after day because she is worthy of being fiercely sought after.
This one’s for the #girldad. Because for all you do and for all you are, you are just the best.
And it’s about time you got your own hashtag.

My dad did this four times…and I am the youngest. This one’s for the girl dad who NEVER…EVER…made me feel like I should have been the boy he would have loved to have! Instead, he taught all of us how to change a tire and check the oil in our cars, and to do so many practical things that I wouldn’t trade for anything! 🙂
