The past couple of weeks have been a bit rough with naps around here. These days, our naps tend to look like this:
Yep, that’s right. Nap regression has hit us in a hard way. Just about the only way Nora will sleep is in her carseat. We have been doing lots of driving around town, her and I. The folks at Sonic know to start making a large cranberry limeade when they see me coming down the road (it’s either the limeade or eating my weight in corndogs to combat the anti-nap stress…I have chosen the the lesser of two evils).
Anyways, I was rocking in Nora’s room after our drive, making a mental note of what I needed to get done today, when I look over to her changing table and see this:

It’s hard to see in a picture, but note the bottom right hand corner. Do the smudge marks resemble anything to you? That’s right…Baby Nora butt cheeks. We have been struggling when diaper changes as well lately…lots of bare bottomed rolling and crawling. I have always noticed her finger prints on the mirror before, but never the imprint on her rear. It was too funny not to share 🙂 So if anyone has any helpful tips on making diaper changes a little less traumatic/active, I would surely welcome them! (By they way, I am totally cleaning that mirror today – smudge marks drive me crazy!)
On a little more serious note, I would like to ask for some prayer. I have been having some pretty significant head aches the past 3 months that just seem to be getting worse. I’m not sure what is causing them, but we have been running lots of tests over the past couple of weeks, tried some new medications, etc. and we still don’t have any answers. I was able to tolerate them for a while, but they are happening pretty much everyday now and are making it pretty difficult to enjoy daily life and take care of Nora, as they are pretty painful and cause quite a bit of dizziness. I’m waiting to hear back from the doctor’s office today and we are scheduling an MRI of my head for later this week. I’m not quite sure how to pray at this point, other than for answers and hopefully a solution. Whatever is going on, I know that God is completely in control and I know that he is going to take care of me. It’s just kind of scary, and frustrating, when your having problems and no one can seem to tell you why your having them. And it’s not very fun missing out on everyday stuff. Even worse, trying to go and do things and then feeling really sick. Most of the time, I feel like a great big party pooper…. And please, go ahead, I know your already singing the song in your head. But you have to sing it in Franque’s voice from Father of the Bride. That’s a must.
But aside from all of that, I am totally looking forward to one of my favorite weeks ever – our anniversary week! We have some pretty fun things planned to celebrate, some with Nora, and some by ourselves, and I have really been looking forward to it for a while. Hopefully I’ll be feeling good enough to really enjoy it and take it all in 🙂

Laur, I sure will pray for you. Headaches are no fun and especially when you are a busy young mom who has a little one needing you most of the day. I will pray that the MRI will bring you some answers and lead to some relief for you.
I too hope that you will feel well enough to enjoy your anniversary. You have much to celebrate.

Thanks Auntie Kathy! Hopefully we will get some answers after Thursday. But I am certainly looking forward to our big day tomorrow. Eric already started the surprises with new jewelry last night 🙂

So sorry about your headaches! That can make life miserable! We will pray for answers and an easy solution! Lyle got pretty squirmy during diaper changes too. He has this monkey that playes peek-a-boo, and I would give him that only during changing time (partly because it is slightly irritating lol) but it seemed to hold his attention long enough to get business done!

Hmmm…now I need to go out on the hunt for a peek-a-boo playing monkey. Thanks for the suggestion! By the way, I am DYING to see Hawaii pictures and stories!!!! Get them on your blog already, girl!
