Five on Friday

in Uncategorized on January 8, 2016

It’s Friday! Which to a farmer’s wife means absolutely nothing, but I will still join along in the excitement! Here’s what we’ve had going on this past week.
1. Glitter Countertops
Guys, the first set of our glitter countertops for my laundry room are done and installed and I LOVE them! Sometimes I find myself just standing there in front of my washer and dryer and just staring at them.

2. Playing with Christmas Toys
It’s been so much fun the past couple of weeks to watch the girls play with their new toys from Christmas. I snapped this picture of the girls watching cartoons in their new sleeping bags. They have them out and get snuggled in them all the time!
3. This
On Wednesday night I had the privilege of hosting almost 30 women in our home from our community Bible study mom’s group. We read the book Fervent over the past couple of months, based off of the movie War Room. So we all got together to watch the movie and spent some really awesome time in prayer. I can’t even tell you the joy and blessing this group has been to me.

4. A Simple Valentine’s Day
I will be sharing my simple Valentine’s Day decor this next week. I had so much fun bringing pops of reds, pale pinks and Mercury to our farmhouse this week and I can’t wait to show you!

5. This Pallet Sign
My sweet mama got me this sign for Christmas and I ended up putting it down at the end of the hallway by the girl’s rooms. I love it and it explains our home so well.

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend! We get to go out and celebrate Eric’s birthday tomorrow night to commemorate his first 29th birthday! Happy date night to us πŸ™‚

Five on Friday

in Uncategorized on November 13, 2015

Hey, hey it’s Friday! We have had a great week around here. These are times that my heart is just so full that I think it might burst. Not anything big or extraordinary, but simple daily love that brings more joy than I could think of. Linking up with my lady blog friends today and sharing some snippets of what our week looked like.

1. Tea Parties

All day. Everyday. It’s been fun having Nora help me teach Andersyn what tea parties are all about. Not only can she pour tea into a tea cup now, but she can clink her little cup and “cheers” right along with her big sister. It’s so fun watching the girls start to actually play together.

2. Christmas Home Tour

In case you missed it, here is the link to my Christmas Home Tour of the farm house. I hope it inspires you to do something beautiful in your home this season!

3. Having Eric home

Now that harvest is done, we see SO MUCH MORE of our favorite guy. It is truly a blessing having my husband home. We have missed him so much and are taking advantage of all the extra cuddles and memories we are making together.
4. This

Speaking of my farmer husband, did everyone hear him yelling when Nebraska beat Michigan State last week? Pretty sure his excitement was uncontainable!

5. Surprise Baby Sprinkle

Guys, I pulled off the most fun surprise party last night! My dear friend is having her third baby in January and they are having a little boy after two girls! We had a great time surprising and celebrating them last night at our house. The surprise went off with out a hitch and we all had a great time being together and swooning over all things blue and boyish. So fun!

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend! Remember to hug your family and loved ones close. Remember the blessing and gift that they are to you. And make sure you tell them, too πŸ™‚

Hugs from the farm!

Five on Friday!

in Uncategorized on June 6, 2014

The past week has been one of the weriest since we have moved here. More tornadoes, VBS, temper tantrum (both for me and Nora) and pregnancy associated back pain. Needless to say, I’m really happy it’s Friday! Let’s get started on the fun things I’m loving today!

1. Antique Finds!

I have been feeling deep urges to get out and explore the antique stores around us since we moved here and Sunday I got to do just that! Eric took me out for Chipotle and then we hit the antique stores! We got some amazing deals and now I’m even more excited to move into our new house and display our finds. We had such a nice time together, just the two of us!

2. The Milford Pool

We caved and bought a pool pass this year! After the first day there, we were all in agreement that it was one of the best decisions of the summer!

3. Iced Coffee

As a major coffee conosour, I usually prefer hot coffee drinks. But this week I discovered vanilla iced coffee from The Dragonfly and my life has been changed!

4. This. Just This.

Please try and not be jealous of this gorgeous sunset over our pond. Absolute heaven for this farmer’s wife while enjoying an evening of fishing!

5. New Hair

Allison did my hair this week with some fun new summer coloring and I LOVE it!! I love adding the dark peek-a-boo to the bottom half of my hair. We went a bit darker this time and it’s just perfect! Not to mention I got to sit at the salon and talk to her for almost 2 hours uninterrupted by our littles. It was lovely πŸ™‚

Happy Friday friends!!

Five on Friday

in Uncategorized on May 23, 2014

Hey there! It’s time for another Five on Friday in my little corner of the internet. What a whirlwind of a week it’s been! So glad the weekend is upon us. Let’s celebrate!!

1. FroYo

We were back in KC for the long weekend and we got to indulge in our first FroYo of the season at Peach Wave. To say it was glorious would be an understatement.

2. Gardening

Our garden is really springing to life this week! We have been enjoying fresh salads, onions and radishes with our meals and it makes me look forward to what’s to come in the coming weeks: tomatoes, potatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, squash, peas, beans and sweet corn. Nora enjoys helping us weed and water and has gotten pretty good at pulling radishes.

3. Sebastian’s Table

Our small group had a surprise birthday party for our sweet Kelly on Wednesday night at a new place in downtown Lincoln called Sebastian’s Table. It’s a Spanish tapas restaurant, which was something I had never experienced before; the menu consisted of numerous appetizer dishes and desserts. Perfect relaxed atmosphere, combined with great friends and amazing food made our night nothing short of perfect. Needless to say, we will be going back there again for sure. Thank you Steve for the wonderful night out!

4. Zuzu’s Top

And here is what I wore out for dinner that night. At 5 months pregnant, I’m finding it hard to find things that make me look pregnant, not just chubby. And this little top did just that. I love the print and am always excited when I see the color Navy.

5. Lucy

Our sweet German Shepherd, Lucy, got hit by a car this week. Her left hind leg was completely shattered, but her hip, along with the rest of her, was completely untouched. So my FIL decided to go with an amputation instead of putting her down. She is such a good farm dog and is so young, it just seemed wrong to put her down right away. Lucy came home this morning and already was trying to follow us when we took Nora for a walk tonight. The doctors said that her recovery will be a few weeks, but that she should do very well. So now we have a tripod dog.

I hope your holiday weekend is fabulous and relaxing! I’m hoping that we can get a little fishing in as a family in between all the house building that Eric is planning on doing this weekend. Happy Friday, friends!

Your poor puppy! I love that top on you! I hated when I was in that awkward phase of pregnancy where you can't tell if you're actually pregnant or just chunky. I would walk around with my hand on my belly so people knew I was carrying a baby and not a pound of cookies.

Five on Friday

in Uncategorized on October 11, 2013

.I have been so busy these past few weeks that I haven’t been able to link up with my favorite gals for Five on Friday. I’m so excited to be back in the blogging swing of things again πŸ™‚ Let’s get a move on then, shall we?

1. The Louisburg Cider Mill

Nora and I ventured out on a Mommy-daughter date yesterday to the local cider mill for some donuts and fresh apple cider. To say it was delicious was an understatement. Nora now has 11 teeth and is getting much better at biting and chewing her food, so I risked it and gave her an entire donut for her to snarf down. She did great and I found her licking her hands when she was done. Gotta get every last sprinkle of cinnamon and sugar, right?
ο»Ώ

2. A New Park

We normally go to the park right down the road from our house, but I felt like these last couple of weeks of nice weather we needed a change of scenery. So we tried a few new parks this past week and fell in love with this one across from Brougham Elementary here in Olathe. Nora loved the swings and new “stuff” to climb on. We will be back there soon!

3. Seeing Out of Town Friends

Years ago in college, I attended a birthday party for my friend Ashley and met her best friend from high school, Ashley. For some reason, we hit it off that night, became friends on Facebook and have been friends ever since. So funny how that happens, right?!? We saw each other back in the spring for a girls day, and now she was on her way through KC again and stopped for coffee. I love this gal to pieces and consider her a close, dear friend. I’m grateful for friends who make time for me and Nora-kins.

4. My Old Toys

This week I broke out my old childhood toys for Nora to play with – my Walt Disney World castle with character figurines and my Peter Pan hat. We cranked up the Christmas music and played for hours on the floor, just like I used to do as a kid. It’s fun seeing her in the initial phases of make believe…..putting Mickey and Minnie in the car, making car noises as she drives them on the floor. It’s amazing to watch her learn and play. I love this precious girl of mine.

5. This Scrumptiousness

So I made this recipe this past week. My cousin, Boyd, was coming in from Canada and I wanted to have some good fall snackie foods around. Boy, it was amazing. We are huge Rice Krispie Treat peeps in this house, and adding candy corn, Reeces Pieces and peanuts made it junk food heaven. Please, make these. You will be so happy if you do.

Alright, there it is. Again, SO HAPPY to be back in the Five on Friday swing of things…I’ve missed it dearly πŸ™‚ Thanks for putting it on, gals!

I hope mine finds her appetite soon! 3. I don't know whether to love you or hate you for sharing this recipe…all of my favorite things in one gooey bar?? YUM!

    Have a great weekend, Lauren!

Can I tell you what I am secretly hoping? That when we meet for lunch sometime, that Arden and Nora "accidentally" will show up in the same outfit. We might need to make that happen….

Five on Friday

in Uncategorized on September 6, 2013

Hey girlfriends! It’s time for a link up again. Friday is here and it makes it even better that it was only a 4 day week. Let’s get started πŸ™‚

1. Husker Thanksgiving Dinner

Last Saturday we had some of our dear friends, the Weils and the Dunbars, over to kick off Nebraska Football season. And when I say Thanksgiving dinner, I mean full blown, turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole and pumpkin pie. We had a great time catching up, eating and watching our kids run all over the house. An added plus that the Huskers WON and K-State lost the night before. It was great πŸ™‚

Kids all ready to eat at the kiddie table – complete with Nebraska napkins πŸ™‚

Sweet friends! Katie wins the award for cutest prego ever

Long live the foam finger and all things Nebraska!

2. Family Pictures

Angie Plank from Plank Photography is the bomb.com in my book. Even in 100 degree weather, she still managed to snap a few great shots of our little family and take Nora’s 1 year pictures. Here is one of my favorites:

3. New China Wear

My Dad is an antiquer to the extreme! I told him that I was looking for some new antique china wear a few months ago, and he got me a FULL 8 place setting, bowls and serving plates set for a whopping $1! I am in love with it an was so excited to finally break it out for our turkey feast!

4. Playing at the Park

Nora and I have been going to the park down the street from us early in the morning the past week and she has LOVED it! She is getting good at climbing the stairs and is getting the hang of going down the kiddie slides. Such a big girl!

Labor Day at the park

Even while playing outside, one must ALWAYS wear a bow

5. Old Settler’s in Olathe

Last year, I was a very large, ready-to-pop, 39 weeks pregnant woman at Old Settler’s. I was already looking forward to taking our girl next fall, and now next fall is here! We are going there tonight to get some funnel cakes, stop by the craft booths and watch the parade on Saturday. Can’t wait to experience it this year with Nora!

Off to eat funnel cakes last year

Happy Friday friends! Hope your weekend is beautiful and FALL filled :)ο»Ώ

Five on Friday

in Uncategorized on July 12, 2013

Hey there Friday, your lookin’ good! This week has been eXtReMeLy long in our house. Nora got her first tooth and it sent us for a whirl and a half. For those of you who’s babies didn’t even blink when their teeth popped through, I’m immensely jealous and our friendship is terminated. Just joking (but totally serious about the jealous part, consider me green with envy).
I bought lots of fun stuff for our “Eberspacher Colorado Outdoor Adventure” trip that we leave for next Thursday night, so I thought I share my 5 favorite things that I’ve gotten this week in preparation.

1. Polkadot Sunglasses

So I tried on what seemed like a zillion “active wear” sunglasses at Target the other day, and they all just looked ridiculous on me. Every pair I put on, I turned to Nora and said, “What do ya think, girl friend?” and all I got was a blank stare a curled upper lip. But when I tried these on, I instantly loved them and she smiled and clapped – nope, totally not joking on that one. So I have been breaking my new shades in this week and loving them!
2. Nalgene Water Bottles

Since we aren’t huge hikers (I mean, we live in Kansas, for pete’s sake), we don’t own any super reliable water bottles, so I picked up a couple of these for our hikes and other outdoor activities. Seeing as it’s going to be in the upper 90’s for most of our trip (sick), the nurse in me says we gotta stay hydrated! Yellow for me and grey for Eric.

3. Ello Pink Chevron Ceramic Tumbler

Ok, so I didn’t need this for the trip, but I have been looking for a cute new ceramic togo coffee mug and this one was just too adorable to pass up!

4. Some new tennies!!

I have had the same pair of tennies for about 2 1/2 years, and have worn them almost all day every day since buying them. Even worse, they were my work shoes before I had Nora, so heavens only knows what those things have trudged through (chemo and blood and puke, oh my!). For all the walking we are going to do this next week, I knew my old ones just weren’t going to hold up. Got them on clearance PLUS 30% off at Shoe Carnival. Holla!!

5. Cutest Mesh Hiking Outfit Ever

Ok, so realistically, Nora (or myself) isn’t going to be doing that much hiking on this trip, but I did want her to have something super cool and comfy for when she is in the backpack carrier, so I got her this little racer back tank with matching mesh shorts. It’s so cute on!

Watching for the garbage man to come by in her new outfit πŸ™‚

In other news, Will and Kate’s Royal Baby is due this week! Gaaa, I’m one of those crazies that is frea.king.out!!! I have followed them for as long as I can remember them being together and I’m so excited that their little family is growing. Not only am I excited about this new life, but I am DYING to see the royal nursery. Go ahead judge me now. I am perfectly shameless…
